Now that we’ve journeyed Through the Prism and returned to the default world, many of us may still be adjusting and reflecting on the experience. Perhaps you’ve come back with a fresh perspective, inspired by new ideas and possibilities for bringing the spirit, creativity, and connection of the Burn into your neighbourhood or community.

Spark Grants help to turn those ideas into action. These R10 000 micro-grants exist to support small, community-driven projects that spark positive change in the default world. There are 11 available - one for each of the Guiding Principles and anyone who attended Through the Prism is invited to apply for funding for a project anywhere in South Africa.

If this sparks something in you, please complete this form before Tuesday, 30 June 2026. Each project submitted will be reviewed and we will let you know the outcome by the middle of July.

Please note the following:

  • Applications are currently open and close at 4pm on 30 June 2026
  • To complete this application, you will need an ID or passport number, cellphone number and email address for BOTH the main applicant as well as a co-applicant
  • Projects need to take place within the Republic of South Africa
  • All projects are ordinarily to be completed between 1 August 2026 and 31 January 2027
  • Spark Grants may not be used for salaries, fees or stipends.
  • Successful applicants will be required to sign a grant agreement and account for their expenditure
  • Continuation funding (for previously approved projects) is not available; however prior recipients may apply for funding for a new project
  • AfrikaBurn is under no obligation to disburse funds
